Anti-pill is a number between one and five. Not a word on a label.
Customized Fleece Blankets makes blankets to order — anti-pill polar fleece, sherpa-backed throws, edge-to-edge sublimated prints, embroidered blankets, roll-up stadium blankets and recycled RPET.

Every fleece blanket sold anywhere is described as anti-pill. Printing the word costs nothing, which is exactly why the word tells you nothing.
Pilling is short polyester fibre ends working their way to the surface and tangling into little balls. Resistance to it is a real finishing process and it is graded on a standard test from one to five. That number is the whole difference between a blanket that still looks new after twenty washes and one that is bobbly after three — and it almost never appears on a quote.
It appears on ours, next to the fabric weight in gsm. Two numbers, both of which you can compare between suppliers.
Why we exist
Blankets are bought in bulk for freshers weeks, match days and Christmas gifting, on a colour swatch and a unit price.
So they pill in a term. The cut edge frays. The embroidered crest sinks into the pile and reads as a smudge. The stadium blanket’s carry strap pulls out of the hem on the first walk to the car. None of those are bad luck; all four are specification decisions that somebody made by default.
The edge is what fails first
A raw cut edge is the cheapest finish there is. On some knits it is genuinely fine; on others it curls and frays and the blanket looks tired long before the fabric is worn.
A serged edge, a stitched hem or a blanket-stitched border costs very little and it is the single most visible marker of whether a blanket was specified or just bought. We name the edge finish on every quote rather than leaving it as whatever the cutting table produced.
Embroidery on pile needs two things nobody sees
A cut-away backing underneath, so the stretchy knit does not distort as the machine runs. And a water-soluble topping on top, so the pile is held flat and the stitches sit on the surface instead of sinking into it.
Both add pennies. Without them, letters fill in and outlines blur, and the result looks like a mistake. There is also a minimum detail size on fleece that is larger than on a shirt, and we would rather simplify a crest at mockup stage than run it and let you find out.
What we actually make
Polar fleece with the gsm and the pilling rating both quoted. Sherpa-backed throws, with the doubled freight cost stated next to the unit price. Edge-to-edge sublimated prints, which dye the polyester fibre itself so nothing can crack or peel. Embroidered blankets run over backing and topping. Roll-up stadium blankets with the strap stitched into the body rather than the hem. And RPET fleece with the recycled content given per component.
Fleece is polyester, which is why sublimation works so well here and why the recycled version performs essentially like the virgin one.
How we price
No dollar figures on this site. Price moves with fabric weight, backing, decoration, edge finish and quantity, and it falls steeply into the thousands. Send the details and a real quote comes back the same day, with a lowest-price guarantee if you are already holding a cheaper one.
What we will tell you that others will not
That sherpa can cost more in freight than it costs in fabric on a big run. That your crest is too fine for pile. That a lighter fleece is the right answer for a summer festival.
And that all polyester fleece sheds microfibres in the wash, recycled or not — wash it rarely, cold and gentle.
